About the Founder
Hi, I’m Sue, founder of Declutter with Love SA. I started this journey because I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed and disheartened by "too much stuff”.
As a former “messy person,” I understand the frustration of not knowing where to begin. Even though I was highly organised at work, parts of my home felt out of control and the idea of simplifying seemed impossible.
I used to put up with items bursting forth and launching themselves at me from great heights but I found a way through, and you can too.
Decluttering isn’t just about tidying up your space—it’s about lightening your mental load as well. The freedom you feel after removing the excess is truly transformative. If you’re ready to start your own journey, I’m here to help!

Sue's Decluttering Journey
Until a few years ago, Sue hadn't heard of “decluttering”, particularly as a task to be undertaken regularly. As a single Mum of twins, Sue's life had been hectic for years with work, appointments, family and friends. She had lost her Mum when her children were babies and not dealt with inherited and sentimental items. Dealing with all the stuff seemed like just too much to expect of herself.
To quiet the nagging voice in her head and make some progress, Sue decided to start small. She did some decluttering research and tackled one drawer/cupboard at a time, whenever she had a spare moment.
Over time, decluttering made a difference to how Sue's home felt and freed up space in her mind too, which she hadn’t expected. It was wonderful to be able to find things easily and not have items come crashing down on her head or foot when she recklessly opened a cupboard door!
After decluttering multiple boxes of good quality items, Sue decided to donate them to a local charity. She imagined who would come across her donations and that they'd be pleased to have found them. Sue also imagined the money from sales going back into her community and helping people who needed it more than she did.
Since starting her decluttering journey, Sue has made dozens of trips to charity shops to drop off hundreds of items. She has also filled to the brim her recycling and waste bins repeatedly and booked hard rubbish collections for larger items not in good shape. Sue strongly relates to the phrases "progress over perfection" and "1% better every day".

Above are images of Sue's "Command Centre" through the different stages of life with kids.
The purpose of a Command Centre is to have a central location for paperwork, calendars, stationery and school related items such as timetables. Sue also used it to house kids school bags and books to lessen the likelihood of tripping over them and falling flat on her face!
