What's included in the sessions?

  • Assistance with decluttering of the designated space for the agreed timeframe. Please be prepared for the possibility of hearing more of Sue's stories and decluttering examples during this time.

  • Help with categorising and organising the remaining items. Yay - how fun!

  • Removal of general donations accepted by charity which will comfortably fit in a standard vehicle. It's so rewarding to give back to our community!

  • Guidance with maintaining the space/s into the future. This one's important! There's no point putting in all the effort to have it undone in a year's time...

  • If required, recommendations will be provided for purchasing of products which will add value to the space. This is a case-by-case basis as not everyone needs more products - just ask Sue!

Please note:

  • Decluttering with Love SA is not a rubbish removal service.

  • Minimal cleaning is undertaken as this is a different service to decluttering and organising.

  • Sourcing and purchasing products for clients will incur a 25% service fee.

Getting Started

  • Email or call to book in your complimentary, obligation-free initial 30 minute phone consultation to discuss which area/s of your home are requiring assistance.

  • Choose which type of session will work for you and book it in. A deposit is due at the time of booking and an invoice confirming the details will be provided.

  • Declutter with Love SA will be in touch before your first session to answer your questions and ensure the session runs smoothly.

  • Attend the session and work through decluttering and organising together. Having a decluttering buddy makes a huge difference and is way more fun, not to mention productive!

  • Declutter with Love SA will follow up after the session/s to check how things are working for you.

If possible, please put aside garbage/shopping bags and cardboard boxes in readiness for donations or rubbish at the upcoming session. Sustainability and re-using what you already have is an important value of Declutter with Love SA.

Prior to the first visit

At the first session

  • There will be a quick discussion of the goals to be achieved and how you would like your home to function and feel. We will keep in mind "progress over perfection" to reduce the overwhelm and pressure as no-one needs that!

  • In most cases we will start with high impact areas such as the floor and flat surfaces. We will attend to obvious rubbish, recycling and broken/stained items beyond repair, and remove them from the space we are working in.

  • We will categorise the remaining items to understand the volume and organisational needs by creating a "sorting station". This could be a table, bed or even the floor.

  • We will check if any duplicates or other items are no longer required and can be decluttered from the space. Sue understands well that 7 egg flips may be a tad too many for most people!

  • We will create a "Maybe" box or similar idea for items which are not a clear keep or discard to ensure progress isn't held up. Sometimes it's just too hard to decide on the spot.

  • We will investigate where a permanent "donation station" can be set up to assist with a short-term location for unwanted items in the future. Areas need to be revisited as your "decluttering muscles" grow stronger.

  • We will review whether a "Memory Box" for sentimental items is needed. Sue has one for each family member to keep their treasures! Sue's "Memory Box" keeps her childhood pink blanket safe!

  •  We will discuss whether items can be used in new ways to continue making good progress. It is so much fun to get creative and think outside the box!
